Irene Mukabalisa Marcel
Irene is an experienced corporate and personal treasury banker with one of America’s largest financial institutions. She began her career in East Africa where she was offered a position as financial services manager for a large financial institution that will ultimately become one of the largest commercial banks on the African continent. Irene’s life experience as a native of Africa combined with her professional experience in South Sudan has provided her with great insights on social and economic challenges facing African societies in general and the poor in particular. Irene’s work and service delivery have since been driven by her dedication to making a tangible difference in the lives of others.
Irene is further guided by her passion for macroeconomics, international relations, public policies and international trade in an imperfect global economic context, whereby the predatory behaviors of the powerful hinder the establishment of a general macroeconomic and political framework suitable for the development of the poor. Irene is currently pursuing a Bachelor degree in Business with a special emphasis in international trade and finance. She is fluent in English, French, Swahili and other African languages. Born in Rwanda and raised in Kenya, Irene is a dual Rwandan and American citizen. As a role model in promoting diversity and fighting for human rights, Irene will be a great asset to AUFD.
